Haryana is most famous for its high quality
slates that occur mainly in districts of Rewari
and Mahendragarh at Kund, Majra Manethi, Padla,
Bujhar, Ganjar, Behali and Rampura Bas. All
these areas are approachable by road and falls
on Gurgaon-Narnaul State Highway. These slate
deposits have an exposed strike length of 30
kilometres. The slates in all these localities
vary widely in shades from black to grayish
black, greenish grey and multicoloured. Slates
are intercalated with silt stone and slaty phylltes.
The
Kund slates are one of the best quality slates
available in the country. Grey and black colour
slates are exposed in Kund and Behali whereas
black to multicolour slates are found in other
deposits.
